SRA joins the celebration of women's month
QUEZON CITY—The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) celebrated National Women's Month in March with a series of events highlighting women's contributions and empowerment.
The National Women's Month Celebration (NWMC) is a yearly celebration of Filipino women’s contribution towards nation-building, led by the Philippine Commission on Women and agencies’ Gender and Development (GAD) committees.
SRA began the celebration by hosting a weekly "Women's Talk" series in Quezon City and Floridablanca, Pampanga, featuring presentations by SRA's female employees in their areas of expertise.
Speakers included Dr. Amparo Tricia Baylon-Sison, who discussed women's preventive care; Atty. Jeanelle Reina Tamoro-Cruz on laws protecting women in marriage and relationships and Jennifer Boyero on counseling for non-counselors.
Recreational activities were also provided to balance celebration and education through the SRA's Gender and Development (GAD) committee that organized weekly film screenings featuring women in action, military history, and domestic settings for the whole month of March.
The month's celebration concluded with a bazaar showcasing products from Samaritana, a non-profit group.
The SRA also reconstituted its GAD Committee, Focal Point System (FPS), and Technical Working Group members for the continuation of women’s progress within SRA.
Administrator Pablo Luis Azcona and Ma. Mitzi Mangwag are co-chairpersons, with Raphael Henri Mundo and Atty. Jeanelle Reina Tamoro-Cruz as vice chairperson and alternate vice chairperson, respectively.
An orientation for the GADFPS Executive Committee was held last March 26, featuring Director Annray Villota Rivera, the Department of Agriculture's Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Focal Person.
