The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) downgraded its sugarcane crop estimate for crop year 2011-2012 to 2.242 million metric tons of raw sugar production from the initial estimate of 2.40 million metric tons. It was reported by its field personnel and the constituents of the Mill District Development Committees (MDDCs), especially in Negros, that cane tonnage declined by around 18-20% compared to the previous crop year.

| The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) recently issued Sugar Order No. 7, Series of 20112012, prescribing the deadline for verification of "A" sugar or U.S. quota sugar on January 31, 2012. Verification is the process whereby SRA determines the volume, source and exporter of the sugar. Importantly, through verification, SRA earmarks the sugar covered by the verified "A" quedan for export to the United States market. |

Sugar Order No. 1 Series of 2011-2012: Sugar Policy for Crop Year 2011-2012
Allocation of sugar production in the Philippines into various classifications is highly dependent on the projected requirements and supply of sugar for a particular cropping season. The government, thru the Sugar Regulatory Administration, is mandated to establish and maintain a balanced relationship between sugar production and requirements and to maintain such marketing conditions to ensure stability in prices at levels reasonably profitable to the producers and fair to consumers.

Sugar Order No. 2, Series of 2011-2012: U.S. Quota Allocation
Sugar Order No. 2 stipulates the requirements for filling up of the U.S. quota for quota year 2011-2012. The United States of America has allocated for the Philippines an initial quota of 144,901 metric tons raw value (MTRV) or 138,827 metric tons commercial weight (MTCW).
