SRA and PASG Join Forces Against
Smuggling and Unlawful Importation of Sugar
The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) represented by Administrator Rafael L. Coscolluela has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last December 20, 2007 with the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG), a presidential body created under Executive Order No. 624, represented by its Head, Undersecretary Antonio “Bebot” A. Villar, Jr.. The signing was witnessed by Jesus L. Arranza of the Federation of Philippine Industries and Francisco Varua of the Sugar Alliance of the Philippines. |

The MOA stipulates that the PASG enlists the assistance and cooperation of SRA in apprehending, seizing, investigating and prosecuting acts involving the smuggling and unlawful importation of sugar and other similar violations.

The SRA also undertakes to coordinate and support PASG, as well as provide resources, including the use of its personnel and facilities, for the purpose of gathering information, investigating and prosecuting smuggling and other unlawful importation of sugar. To fully implement the terms and conditions set forth in the MOA, PASG and SRA are enjoined to issue the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). |
